Pascale Sablan, AIA
Pascale Sablan, AIA is an associate at Adjaye Associates. With over 13 years of experience, she has been on the design team for a variety of mixed-use, commercial, cultural, and residential projects around the world. Pascale is the 315th living African American female architect in the United States to attain her architectural license.
Pascale has given lectures at many prestigious institutions, including the National Museum of African American Heritage and Culture, the United Nations Visitor Centre, and Columbia University. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Beyond the Built Environment, LLC and has curated SAY IT LOUD exhibitions at the AIA New York Center for Architecture, SXSW Conference 2019, A'19, NOMA 2018 Unbounded conference, and the United Nations Visitor Centre.
Pascale has won numerous awards including the 2018 Pratt Alumni Achievement Award, Emerging New York Architect Merit Award, NOMA Prize for Excellence in Design, and 2018 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Young Architects Award. She was also recognized on the Building Design + Construction "40 Under 40" list and was featured on the cover of its September 2017 issue.
Bob Borson, FAIA
Dallas architect Bob Borson, FAIA, is widely recognized as the blogger behind Life of an Architect—one of the world’s most popular architectural blogs. As an established voice within the architectural community, he has bridged the gap and engaged multiple generations of architects and architectural enthusiasts by sharing his personal experiences, professional practice tips, and anecdotes on what it’s like to work with and be an architect.
Bob was recognized by the Dallas AIA as “Young Architect of the Year” in 2009, received the Award for Excellence in the Promotion of Architecture through the Media from the Texas Society of Architects in 2015, and was elevated into the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows in 2017. Currently, Bob is an Associate Principal with award-winning firm BOKA Powell in Dallas, Texas.
Robert Cassidy
Robert Cassidy, executive editor of Building Design+Construction and editor of Multifamily Design+Construction, served as editorial director of BD+C from 2002-2014. He holds a bachelor’s from the College of the Holy Cross and a master’s in urban studies from Yale. He was a city planner in Providence, R.I., and Arlington, Virginia, and was editor of Planning Magazine, the publication of the American Planning Association. In 1979 he co-founded the Friends of the Chicago River and served as its Chair from 1979 to 1982. Among his books are Livable Cities: A Grass-roots Guide to Rebuilding Urban America and Margaret Mead: A Voice for the Century. In 2016 he was awarded the G.D. Crain, Jr. Award for Lifetime Editorial Achievement from Connectiv, the Business Information Association serving the Business-to-Business media sector.
